In 2015, Mzumbe University launched a Centre of Excellence in Health Monitoring and Evaluation – the first of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa. The Centre of Excellence aims to contribute to research, dissemination, expertise and teaching in the field of M&E in Tanzania and beyond, by offering:
- a two-year intensive Master of Science degree in Health Monitoring and Evaluation;
- the East African Journal of Applied Health Monitoring and Evaluation – a new online journal focusing on applied experiences of monitoring and evaluation in the health sector in Africa, with a particular focus on East Africa; and
- an annual conference in applied health monitoring and evaluation, the first of which will be held in 2016.
The Centre of Excellence also offers a week-long, intensive short course on The Use of M&E for Quality and Programme Improvement in the Health Sector. This course was held for the first time in September 2015, and then again in March 2016. The course will be held again later this year – keep checking this website for the dates. More information about the course and the application form can be found here.
